COMMUNITY BASED DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME - One of the BFPA's outreaches is a twenty year old programme called Community Based Distribution of Contraceptives programme (CBDC). This programme distributes contraceptive products to doctors and pharmacies across the island.

These products are sold on a consignment basis affording the Association a profit and also direct access to "grass roots" Barbadians in rural and urban areas.

FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION AND PEER COUNSELLING PROGRAMME - Courses offered in Family Life Education and Peer Counseling at the introduction and advanced levels.

ADOLESCENT PARENTING PROGRAMME - for teen parents and prospective parents. This programme is geared to addressing the needs of adolescents who are parents or expectant parents. This programme seeks to form support systems, meet new friends and communicate with other young parents or expectant parents who may have similar issues or concerns.

Room 246:

Youth Drop-in Centre

Choose your eyes and picture a room... but not just any room ... picture a brightly painted room with really cool and comfortable furniture, FREE computer and internet access... YES BELIEVE IT... FREE, an entertainment centre (radio, dvd, tv, etc), counselling service (with qualified social workers), access to a youth clinic, a research library and even snacks for when you get de munchies.

Yup...246 has ALL this and more to offer.  Once you're between ages 10 and 24. ROOM 246 is the place where you can come and get any information you need concerning Sexual and Reproductive Health.  But that's not all. In ROOM 246, our focus is 'Youth', and we design all our programmes in a youth friendly fashion.

So, we do lots of Rap Sessions, (that's just a fancy name for interactive discussions), lots of Outreaches (another fancy term for going into schools, communities or youth groups to do presentations and discussions) and even Demonstrations, like how to correctly put on a condom (male or female).

Through ROOM 246 you can even become a member of the Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM) youth group, where you will never get bored or learning and discovering true facts about your body, your sexuality and your culture.

At ROOM 246, there is NO discrimination and NO judgement, just LEARNING and FUN.
